After having a combined 2000+ yd rushing season, the San Diego Chargers part ways with Ryan Mathews and sign back Veteran Mike Tolbert to a 3 year deal. Coach Norv Turner was very impressed with Ryan Mathews (rushed for 1700+ yds in 2011) but felt it was time for a change. Replacing Mathews is long time backup, Jonathan Stewart from the Carolina Panthers. Turner believes that Stewart (only rushed for 227 yds in 2011) has a potential that has yet to be seen due to sharing time with Pro-bowl runningback Deangelo Williams. Stewart, a first round choice from Oregon in 2008, shows all the physical abilities of being a star, but his light has been dimmed since entering the NFL. We expect that to change as he will now be an every-down-back and time will only tell if the Bolts can charge this overshadowed glow into the rising star he has the potential to be.
